Doris Johnson

From Pain to Platform

Doris Johnson has always known the power of expression. A poet, author, speaker, and creative coach, her work is deeply personal and spiritually driven. But her mission doesn’t just stem from passion—it’s rooted in healing. After surviving a painful childhood, years of domestic abuse, and a battle with breast cancer, Doris now uses her story to guide others toward transformation.

She is the founder of Lyrical Healing, a platform for emotional restoration through poetry, storytelling, and creative expression. With authenticity as her signature, Doris empowers women—especially Black women—to reclaim their voices and embrace their divine assignment.

A Spiritual Approach to Storytelling

At the core of Doris’s work is her relationship with God. Every project she undertakes begins with prayer, stillness, and spiritual download. “God is the CEO of everything I do,” she says. Her writing is not just creative—it’s sacred.

Through poetry and prose, she reflects on trauma, generational cycles, grief, love, and forgiveness. Her books include Wounded for Purpose, The Lyrical Healing Experience, and The Armor of Forgiveness—all centered on recovery and renewal. Each piece of writing is an offering—raw, unfiltered, and profoundly relatable.

Doris sees storytelling not just as a career, but as a ministry.

The Birth of Lyrical Healing

Lyrical Healing was born out of necessity. As a survivor of multiple traumas, Doris sought a space where pain could be processed without shame. What began as a personal journaling practice became a platform that now reaches women across the country. Lyrical Healing offers workshops, writing circles, one-on-one coaching, and group programs that focus on self-worth, identity, and resilience.

Participants learn to use poetry and storytelling to unpack grief, rebuild self-esteem, and confront difficult truths in a safe and supportive environment. Doris emphasizes that healing is a process—not a destination. “We are all healing out loud,” she says.

A Legacy of Letters and Love

Doris is not only a creative but a leader. She has mentored countless women through their own writing journeys, guiding them in publishing, self-expression, and finding purpose through pain. She is currently curating an anthology that brings together women’s voices from around the world to share letters of forgiveness, courage, and faith.

Her favorite work to date? Her children’s book series and a forthcoming memoir that details her personal story of healing. “Writing saved my life,” she says. “Now I use it to help others save theirs.”

From Breast Cancer Survivor to Advocate

One of the most defining moments of Doris’s life was her battle with breast cancer. Diagnosed after a dream and spiritual prompting, she pursued testing that ultimately revealed the disease. She credits divine intervention for early detection—and uses her survival as a testimony.

Today, she speaks regularly at women's health events, not just about medical advocacy but about listening to your body and honoring your intuition. Her transparency about her physical and emotional recovery makes her a trusted voice in both wellness and faith-based spaces.

Faith, Family, and the Future

Doris is deeply rooted in her family and community. She credits her mother for instilling in her the value of hard work, and her children and grandchildren as her greatest source of joy. When she’s not writing or speaking, she enjoys quiet time, gospel music, nature walks, and reading sacred texts.

Looking ahead, she hopes to establish a physical Lyrical Healing center—a place where women can come for spiritual renewal, creative release, and community support. She also plans to expand her publishing imprint to help more writers bring healing-centered work to life.
