DEAR BLACK WOMAN MEDIA CO-AUTHOR AGREEMENT

This agreement (the “Agreement”) is made between the undersigned Co-Author (the “Contributor”) and Dear Black Woman Media, LLC (the “Publisher”), a company based in the United States.


Purpose of Agreement: To outline the terms of participation in the anthology titled Dear Black Woman: Honoring the Inner Child with Love, Compassion, and Triumph.

1. Ownership and Copyright The Contributor acknowledges that upon submission and acceptance of their work, all copyrights, trademarks, and intellectual property rights related to the collective work—including future adaptations (film, theater, audio)—shall belong solely to Dear Black Woman Media, LLC. The Contributor retains rights to their original letter for personal and non-commercial use, provided credit is given to the anthology and the Publisher. The Publisher retains exclusive rights to create derivative works, adaptations, stage plays, or films based on any content within the anthology.

2. Compensation and Profit Sharing

Each Contributor will receive:

  • 10 printed copies of the published book.

  • 5% of net profit revenue from book sales (after printing, distribution, and marketing expenses).

  • Profit revenue will be paid quarterly through an automated system. Contributors will also be provided with a quarterly report of book sales.

3. Payment Terms

Total Cost: $650

  • $150 non-refundable deposit due immediately upon selection.

  • Remaining $500 paid in 4 automatic monthly installments of $125 via the Publisher’s website.

  • All payments are non-refundable.

4. Submission Requirements

  • First Draft Due: April 19, 2025

  • Final Draft Due: June 27, 2025

  • Word Count: 3,000–5,000 words

5. Author Expectations

  • Attend monthly Author Zoom Meetings.

  • Optional participation in the Event Planning Committee (bi-weekly meetings).

  • Attend a group photoshoot (makeup provided, hair must be camera-ready).

  • Follow provided photo style guide and bring all required outfits, shoes, and accessories.

  • Submit all required materials on time.

6. Media Usage The Contributor grants the Publisher permission to use their name, photo, likeness, voice, and content submission in all media formats for marketing, publicity, merchandise, digital promotions, and in association with live events and the official podcast.

7. Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Contributors agree not to disclose any private information shared during the project, including internal communication, planning documents, or financial details.

8. Non-Disparagement Clause Contributors agree not to speak negatively or post defamatory remarks about Dear Black Woman Media, the Publisher, or its leadership, team, or affiliated projects.

9. Adaptation Rights The Publisher reserves the right to adapt the book into theatrical productions, short films, documentaries, or other formats without additional compensation beyond profit sharing.

10. Trademark and Intellectual Property The anthology title, branding, concept, and all associated marketing materials are the intellectual property and trademarks of Dear Black Woman Media, LLC. Co-authors may not replicate or use these materials for other projects without written permission.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia. Any legal action or proceeding related to this Agreement shall take place in DeKalb County, Georgia.

12. Term and Termination This Agreement is effective upon signing and remains in effect for the full duration of the publication lifecycle, including its promotional and derivative phases.

13. Acknowledgment By signing below, the Contributor affirms they have read, understood, and agree to the full terms of this Agreement.
